Jose Classen, 20, of Paterson, was found with 18 bricks of heroin, or 900 glassine envelopes, plus four grams of cocaine and marijuana, when he was stopped near Main and Barclay streets, Passaic County Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik said Wednesday morning.

Classen was charged with possession of heroin, intent to distribute, intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school, and marijuana possession, Berdnik said.

He was held at Paterson police headquarters to await bail, the sheriff said.

"[Eighteen] bricks of heroin being taken off the street is a positive development in the daily battle against the influx of narcotics in our area," Berdnik said. "The PCSO will continue to actively arrest drug dealers and confiscate narcotics and drug money."
